Store Description

Victoria Bage started Sarah Coggles in 1974. From the opening of a quirky stall on York market, her designs immediately made an impact and created an avid customer base, which has remained faithful to the present day. The market stall proved so successful that by 1976 shehad opened her first store. Becoming one of the original Northern Boutiques, the store served coffee, played music and offered play areas for husbands, all of which were unheard of inYork in the 70's. Customers still talk about both the market stall and the first store to this day!

Sarah Coggles has one of the country's most diverse designer collections. Our T-shirts range from individually designed in-house limited editions, to one-off designs by New York architects. You can find books on surfer art for £5, or signed Muhammed Ali biographies for £2,500. We can sell you dog carriers or iPod carriers. Japanese denim, or Japanese fashion photography? In Coggles you don't shop, you explore. Kick back in the 70's lounge area, watch Barbarella and have a coffee or a beer.
